A Brief History of eCommerce Architects, Inc.
Our founder started with a background in minicomputer and mainframe systems that pre-dated the PC in 1980.  We first started as ElliSoft Data Systems in 1988, specializing in custom software solutions. We provided a blended suite of skills to customers that leverages data-driven automation with desktop publishing facilities that enabled information-based professional journals to get off the ground here in Chicago. We designed and implemented one of Chicago’s first modem-based, subscription bulletin board systems for the legal community. We created affordable local area network solutions until mainstream computer networks became available.

Our path extended then into office automation, local/wide area networks and e-mail systems (pre-dating the wide-spread use of internet). We expanded our experience into point of sale systems in the early '90’s. We took a larger role of systems design leadership for our clients as our spectrum of skills became more end-to-end. From '93 to '98 we built the first ever multi-site clinical data management system for the pharmaceutical clinical research industry. We designed the data center of the world’s largest clinical research site and implemented the entire spectrum of technology solutions of the new facility. We outfitted the firm with the complete suite of hardware, software, training and CIO vision and planning services to prepare them for the years ahead.

Since 1998 we have been developing web-based eCommerce solutions, and web-enabled, business-to-business applications. Our first segment of work focused on client-branded extranet applications that became an essential component of their business workflow.

In 2006, we formally incorporated as eCommerce Architects, Inc. and expanded our focus from business-to-business to include all sizes of clients.
